Reblog: Garden Party Ideas for a Garden-Themed Celebration
Mother Nature seems busy this week, watering lawns and plants ready for parties later in the summer. Everything has begun to bloom and gardens are bursting with colour and life. We know you all love to enjoy your gardens so what better inspiration for giving a party celebrating the garden, whether you are inside or out?
We’re well into spring and keen gardeners can finally get back to what they love, but you don’t have to be green-fingered to enjoy all the inspiration the garden offers. Give a summer tea party with a garden theme this season for a loved one, young or old. The garden party theme covers everything natural, from plants and flowers to butterflies, insects and mud, meaning that it works for both girls and boys, inside or outside.
For a boy’s birthday, theme the party around all the wild things that make the garden work so efficiently, all the creepy crawlies that scuttle around. Send out spider invitations and make sure that the cake is chocolate mud, covered in beasties! A football pitch cake would be great for a sportier theme. Marmite and lettuce sandwiches and salad on skewers make great party food, along with branch-like twiglets and jelly worm sweets. Football ties in perfectly to the theme and they can take home some great treats after a kick-around in the garden.
Girls might go for a prettier theme of flowers, fairies and butterflies, so some pink and green iced cupcakes will look wonderful in delicate paper cases. Flower bunting and bright paper pompoms work either inside or outside, depending on the weather. Give them each a pink fruit jelly in a paper bowl and if the sun is out, ice-cream sundaes they can build themselves from ingredients in little bowls. A personalised butterfly cake is a great idea, or a homemade one planted with sweetie blooms
There are plenty of great gift ideas for the garden theme. If you are giving a party for adults, have a packet of seeds as a favour by each guest’s place for them to sow at home, or give each person a pot containing a plant or herb you have grown, to brighten up their windowsill. If they are keen on preserving the fruits of their labours, a jam-potting kit will come in handy, or wrap some plant-pot tags to help them organise the greenhouse. For kids, there are loads of nature-themed treats to send them off with, to prepare them for the sunny season ahead.
